Audit, Risk and Performance Committee (ARPC) Members (2 Positions)

John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality is looking for two qualified and experienced individuals to join our Audit, Risk and Performance Committee (ARPC). This is a three-year contract based in the Northern Cape.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Financial Management, Accounting, Auditing, Risk Management, Performance Management, Information Technology, or Law.
  • At least two years of experience serving on an oversight body or committee.
  • Strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of legislation related to local government.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Independence and a commitment to staying updated on local government developments.
  • Membership with a relevant professional body will be considered an advantage.
  • A strong legal background is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

As an advisory member to the Municipal Council and Management, you will provide guidance on:

  • Internal financial controls and internal audit processes.
  • Risk management strategies and accounting policies.
  • The accuracy and reliability of financial reporting.
  • Performance management and evaluation.
  • Effective governance and compliance with the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) and other relevant laws.
  • Reviewing annual financial statements and responding to issues raised by the Auditor-General.
  • Conducting investigations into financial affairs when requested.
  • Providing quarterly reports to the Municipal Council.

Remuneration

Members who are not employed in the public sector will be paid according to the Audit Committee Charter approved by the Council. All members will be reimbursed for travel and related expenses for attending meetings.
