Job Opportunity: Budget and Treasury Clerk

Ubuntu Municipality is a local municipality located in the Pixley ka Seme District of the Northern Cape province. Its administrative seat is in Victoria West, with the municipality also serving the towns of Richmond and Loxton, as well as the villages of Hutchinson and Merriman. We are looking for a professional and qualified individual to join our Finance department.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A three-year Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma with a major in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Risk Management, or Auditing.
  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will assist the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with various financial tasks, including:

  • Assisting with the preparation of the Municipal Budget and monitoring departmental spending.
  • Helping with MFMA reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Supporting the compilation of Annual Financial Statements and the Municipal Annual Report.
  • Performing bank reconciliations and handling audit-related queries.
  • Ensuring all expenditure remains within the approved budget.
  • Preparing budget-related presentations and managing deadlines as required by the MFMA.
