About the Role
The City of Tshwane is seeking a qualified Building Control Professional to join our team. This role is essential for ensuring that all construction within our jurisdiction meets safety, legal, and planning standards. You will work closely with the Deputy Director to manage building plan approvals and provide expert guidance to the public and development professionals.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A three-year degree or national diploma in Architecture or a related field.
- Experience: At least six years of practical experience in a building control office, specifically in reviewing or approving building plan applications.
- Professional Registration: Registration with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) as an Architect or Senior Architectural Technologist is a significant advantage.
- Leadership: Previous experience in a supervisory or management role is preferred.
- Licenses: A valid Code B driving license is required.
- Skills: Must be computer literate and possess strong communication skills.
- Clearance: Candidates must undergo a criminal record check and provide fingerprints via the Tshwane Metro Police Department.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, your daily duties will include:
- Assisting the Deputy Director in enforcing National Building Regulations.
- Managing and participating in the approval process for all types of building plans.
- Reviewing and approving applications related to current town planning schemes.
- Overseeing the approval process for building demolition applications.
- Providing professional advice and feedback to architects, developers, and members of the public.
- Supporting spatial planning and land use management by providing relevant data and technical insights.
