Bus Driver – Rustenburg

Unitrans is a leading provider of supply chain and logistics solutions, specializing in transportation, warehousing, and consulting services. We are currently seeking professional and experienced Bus Drivers to join our team in Rustenburg. This role is vital to ensuring the safe and timely transportation of passengers on established routes.

Job Overview

As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for operating a passenger bus for scheduled services. Your primary focus will be the safety and comfort of your passengers. You will be expected to maintain the vehicle’s condition, adhere to strict schedules, and follow all traffic laws and company safety protocols.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
• Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a similar professional driving position.
• Licensing: Valid Driver’s License (Categories CE – G, CE – PG, or C – G) and a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
• Skills: Mastery of defensive driving techniques and a strong understanding of traffic regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Driving and Safety:

• Operate the bus safely on designated routes and adhere to arrival and departure schedules.
• Maintain a high standard of defensive driving to ensure the safety of passengers and other road users.
• Strictly obey all traffic signs, signals, and speed limits.
• Ensure all occupants, including the driver, use seatbelts at all times.
• Use wheel chocks whenever the vehicle is parked.

Vehicle Maintenance:

• Conduct daily inspections of the bus to identify any malfunctions or defects.
• Report any maintenance issues or deviations from safety standards to the supervisor immediately.
• Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and is refueled as required.
• Secure the vehicle by removing the ignition keys whenever it is left unattended.

Administration and Compliance:

• Maintain accurate logbooks, recording all trip details and working hours.
• Register passengers for each trip as required.
• Report all incidents, accidents, or “near-miss” situations to management promptly.
• Participate in safety training and daily briefings.
• Follow all company policies, codes of conduct, and health and safety regulations.

Customer Service:

• Maintain a professional and positive attitude toward passengers and clients.
• Ensure passenger comfort by managing internal lighting, heating, and ventilation.
