About the Organization

The Community Schemes Ombud Service (CSOS) was established under the Community Scheme Ombud Service Act of 2011. Our mission is to regulate the conduct of parties within community schemes and ensure good governance. Since becoming operational in 2016, we have focused on providing a reliable dispute resolution service for all stakeholders involved.

The Role

We are looking for a dedicated Case Management Officer to join our team in Gauteng. In this role, you will be responsible for managing dispute resolution applications, ensuring they meet legal requirements, and guiding them through the conciliation process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess applications for dispute resolution to determine if they fall under CSOS jurisdiction.
  • Identify specific issues in disputes based on Section 39 of the CSOS Act.
  • Prepare official documents, including Notice 43 and 44.
  • Manage and facilitate submissions from all interested parties.
  • Schedule and prepare files for Conciliation hearings.
  • Maintain and update reports within the case management system.
  • Handle telephone inquiries and assist walk-in applicants.
  • Provide weekly feedback to complainants and prepare monthly status reports.
  • Manage a diary of all active matters and provide general administrative support.

Requirements

  • Education: A Degree in Law (NQF 7).
  • Experience: 2–3 years of experience in a legal environment or dispute resolution.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with Community Schemes and the dispute resolution process.
  • Skills: Strong work ethic, ability to meet deadlines, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Technical: Basic administrative skills (typing/filing) and experience with telephone management systems.
