The City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality is looking for a dedicated individual to join our team as a Cashier for the Integrated Rapid Public Transport Network (IRPTN). This role is vital for providing excellent service to the public and ensuring the efficient handling of fare collections.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • At least 1 year of experience working as a cashier.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Management: Coordinate the sale of smart cards and various transit tickets to the public.
  • Financial Handling: Receive, balance, and prepare daily cash collections for bank deposits.
  • Customer Support: Assist the public with inquiries regarding travel fares and provide feedback on outstanding queries.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records by completing cashbooks and passenger information on Excel spreadsheets for monthly reports.
  • Administration: Archive relevant documentation for audit purposes and manage administration for special bus hires.
  • Communication: Attend to telephonic inquiries and welcome visitors who visit the office for assistance or complaints.
  • Maintenance: Ensure the cashier office and public areas remain clean, neat, and professional.
