Overview
The Department of Correctional Services manages the South African prison system, overseeing 240 facilities across the country. We are looking for dedicated individuals to join our catering team to ensure high standards of food preparation, hygiene, and kitchen management.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- With Experience: A Grade 12 (Matric) certificate plus 10 years of relevant experience in a production-level catering role.
- With Education: A relevant NQF Level 6 qualification in Food or Chef Services. If you have this qualification, no previous experience is required.
Additional Mandatory Requirements:
- Successful completion of the Correctional Science Learnership, Basic Training, or Induction Training Course (ITC).
- A valid driver’s license.
- Basic computer literacy.
Key Responsibilities
As a Caterer, your daily tasks will include:
- Preparing and serving meals to inmates.
- Ensuring all kitchen equipment and work areas are kept clean and sanitized.
- Providing catering training to offenders to assist with their rehabilitation.
- Maintaining strict health and hygiene standards in the kitchen.
- Managing staff, department finances, and facility assets.
