Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • A National Diploma (T/N/S streams) or an equivalent qualification; OR an N3 certificate (or higher) plus a passed trade test in the electrical environment; OR registration as an Engineering Technician.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the electrical infrastructure field.
  • A valid Code B (or higher) driving license.

Key Responsibilities

As the Chief Works Inspector, your daily tasks will include:

  • Conducting building inspections and writing detailed reports.
  • Performing Facility Condition Assessments (FCAs).
  • Assisting with budget preparation and providing cost estimates for maintenance and minor projects.
  • Preparing tender documents and technical specifications.
  • Supervising work on-site to ensure high-quality control.
  • Managing contract administration and project oversight.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Technical Expertise: Experience preparing tender documentation, evaluating bids, and interpreting Bills of Quantities and technical drawings.
  • Compliance: Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and relevant building regulations.
  • Software Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and interpersonal relations.
  • Management: Strong planning, organizing, and deadline-management skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
