Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- A National Diploma (T/N/S streams) or an equivalent qualification; OR an N3 certificate (or higher) plus a passed trade test in the electrical environment; OR registration as an Engineering Technician.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the electrical infrastructure field.
- A valid Code B (or higher) driving license.
Key Responsibilities
As the Chief Works Inspector, your daily tasks will include:
- Conducting building inspections and writing detailed reports.
- Performing Facility Condition Assessments (FCAs).
- Assisting with budget preparation and providing cost estimates for maintenance and minor projects.
- Preparing tender documents and technical specifications.
- Supervising work on-site to ensure high-quality control.
- Managing contract administration and project oversight.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Technical Expertise: Experience preparing tender documentation, evaluating bids, and interpreting Bills of Quantities and technical drawings.
- Compliance: Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and relevant building regulations.
- Software Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and interpersonal relations.
- Management: Strong planning, organizing, and deadline-management skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
