About the Role

The Limpopo Department of Social Development is seeking a dedicated Child and Youth Care Worker to join the Mavambe Secure Care Centre. Our mission is to transform society by helping children and youth become capable, conscious citizens through integrated social development services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Admission and Orientation: Welcome children and youth to the facility and provide them with a proper orientation.
  • Care and Protection: Provide daily care and development support to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
  • Health and Wellness: Ensure children and youth receive necessary medical services and healthcare.
  • Program Facilitation: Lead recreational activities and independent living programs.
  • Family Support: Organize and manage family visits and maintain contact between residents and their families.
  • Escort Services: Accompany children and youth to external service providers and appointments.
  • Developmental Support: Assist in the implementation of therapeutic and developmental programs.
  • Administration: Complete all necessary paperwork and administrative duties accurately.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent NQF 4 qualification.
  • An FET Certificate in Child and Youth Care (NQF 4) recognized by SAQA.
  • Current registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).

Knowledge and Skills

  • A solid understanding of the Children’s Act, Child Care Act, and Child Justice Act.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • A high level of honesty, confidentiality, and commitment to customer care.
