Role Overview
The Community Development Practitioner will be responsible for identifying, facilitating, and implementing community-led interventions. The goal is to build sustainable partnerships with stakeholders and empower citizens through professional social development services.
Key Performance Areas
- Identify and lead community development projects in partnership with local residents and stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with partners to ensure community projects last long-term.
- Provide administrative support for all community development activities.
- Keep up to date with new trends and best practices in the field of community development to improve service delivery.
Requirements
- A recognized qualification (NQF Level 6 or equivalent) in Development Studies.
- A valid driver’s license (this requirement does not apply to persons with disabilities).
- Strong understanding of human behavior, social systems, and community dynamics.
Knowledge and Skills
- Community Focus: Deep understanding of community values, social dynamics, and the ability to influence positive change.
- Coordination: Ability to organize community structures and lead self-empowerment initiatives.
- Administration: Basic knowledge of financial management and project management.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to give presentations and facilitate group discussions.
- Technical Skills: Computer literacy and research skills.
