Role Overview

The Community Development Practitioner will be responsible for identifying, facilitating, and implementing community-led interventions. The goal is to build sustainable partnerships with stakeholders and empower citizens through professional social development services.

Key Performance Areas

• Identify and lead community development projects in partnership with local residents and stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with partners to ensure community projects last long-term.
• Provide administrative support for all community development activities.
• Keep up to date with new trends and best practices in the field of community development to improve service delivery.

Requirements

• A recognized qualification (NQF Level 6 or equivalent) in Development Studies.
• A valid driver’s license (this requirement does not apply to persons with disabilities).
• Strong understanding of human behavior, social systems, and community dynamics.

Knowledge and Skills

• Community Focus: Deep understanding of community values, social dynamics, and the ability to influence positive change.
• Coordination: Ability to organize community structures and lead self-empowerment initiatives.
• Administration: Basic knowledge of financial management and project management.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to give presentations and facilitate group discussions.
• Technical Skills: Computer literacy and research skills.
