About the Role

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) is looking for a dedicated Consultant for Hardware Asset Management. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure all organizational IT assets are monitored and maintained according to SARS policies. You will oversee the lifecycle of hardware assets to ensure accuracy, financial compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Asset Lifecycle Management: Manage the daily and long-term strategic tracking of IT hardware.
  • Inventory Accuracy: Maintain and update the IT asset register to ensure financial statements are accurate.
  • Financial Oversight: Provide financial expertise regarding IT procurement, budgeting, and cost optimization.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Use tools like Microsoft PowerBI to analyze asset data, identify trends, and create reports on asset movement and value.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure all IT assets meet regulatory requirements and follow proper disposal processes.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve asset management workflows and implement necessary changes.
  • Verification: Conduct regular audits and physical verifications of fixed assets.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Build professional relationships with internal teams and third-party suppliers.

Requirements

Option 1:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in IT or Finance.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in IT Infrastructure Asset Management, including 2 to 3 years at a technical level.

Option 2 (Alternative):

  • Senior Certificate (Matric/NQF 4) plus an ITIL certification.
  • 10 years of experience in IT Infrastructure Asset Management, including 2 to 3 years at a technical level.

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in Hardware Asset Management and tracking.
  • Proficiency in discovery tools and PowerBI dashboards.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, network configurations, and operating systems.
  • Ability to perform asset audits and verification.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, and asset disposal regulations.
