About the Role

The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) is dedicated to protecting and conserving South Africa’s natural resources. We are looking for a qualified professional to join our team as a Control Environmental Officer. This role focuses on ensuring environmental compliance regarding pollution and environmental impact.

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • A four-year degree in Natural or Environmental Sciences (or an equivalent qualification recognized by SAQA).
  • A minimum of six years of professional experience in environmental compliance monitoring, auditing, and reporting.
  • Deep understanding of environmental auditing procedures, specifically related to waste and pollution monitoring.
  • Strong knowledge of strategic planning, policy development, and risk management.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Essential Skills

  • Technical Proficiency: High level of computer literacy and experience in professional report writing and research.
  • Communication: Strong negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to gather and analyze information to resolve conflicts and manage difficult situations.
  • Teamwork: Capable of working independently while also contributing effectively to a team environment.
