Job Description

Dis‑Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Cosmetics Frontshop Assistant for our Melville store. The role involves maintaining merchandising standards and providing excellent customer service at the point of sale, following Dis‑Chem policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep product ranges fully stocked and neatly displayed.
  • Check shelf stock for sell‑by dates and restock as needed.
  • Handle accurate cash flow and process all payments (cash, card, vouchers, coupons).
  • Approve line voids and price changes with a supervisor.
  • Exchange and return merchandise when authorised.
  • Pack and store delivered stock correctly.
  • Provide friendly, helpful assistance and product advice to customers.
  • Follow up on out‑of‑stock queries using the customer service list.
  • Secure cash in the drop safe and verify all payments.
  • Adhere to Dis‑Chem security, health and safety policies and standard operating procedures.

Essential Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • 0–6 months retail experience (minimum 1 year in cosmetics retail).
  • Certification in retail or a related field.
  • Computer literate – MS Office.
  • English – speak, read and write.

Competencies

  • Customer‑oriented with strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of merchandising standards, planograms and FMCG category.
  • Basic arithmetic skills.
  • Emotional intelligence, accountability, problem‑solving, honesty and good time management.

Advantageous

  • Additional language skills.
