Council Secretary – Task Grade 16
Nyandeni Local Municipality is looking for a qualified and professional Council Secretary to join our team in the Eastern Cape. This is a full-time role based at our administrative center in Libode.
About the Role
The successful candidate will manage administrative and secretarial functions for the council, ensuring all operations align with local government legislation and policy. We are looking for a proactive individual with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of the municipality environment.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: A relevant NQF Level 6 qualification in Public Relations, Public Administration, Political Science, or an equivalent field.
- Experience: At least five years of experience in Local Government, with at least three of those years in a supervisory role.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in standard office software and applications.
- License: A valid driver’s license is required.
- Added Advantage: Professional registration with a relevant body.
Key Competencies and Skills
- Language: Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English and isiXhosa.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Legislative Knowledge: A strong understanding of policies and laws governing local government.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to supervise staff and maintain professional relationships.
- Independence: A self-starter who can take initiative and work effectively without constant supervision.
