Role Purpose
As a Cyber Security Specialist, you will protect Transnet Engineering’s digital environment. Your main goal is to monitor, detect, and stop security threats. You will evaluate current security measures, identify risks, and put controls in place to prevent unauthorized access or data loss. As cyberattacks become more common, this role is essential to keeping our networks and systems safe.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor networks for security breaches and investigate any violations.
- Install and manage software and encryption programs to protect sensitive data.
- Create detailed reports on security incidents and any damage caused.
- Perform penetration testing to find and fix system weaknesses before they can be exploited.
- Identify and reduce security risks in applications and databases.
- Stay updated on the latest IT security trends and technologies.
- Develop and suggest new security standards and best practices.
- Train and guide staff on how to use new security products and follow safe procedures.
- Review existing technologies regularly to suggest improvements.
- Collaborate with Group ICT and external partners to improve security and compliance.
- Ensure all projects follow security templates and risk assessment guidelines.
- Help develop and maintain policies for IT risk, compliance, and business continuity.
Requirements
- Education: A 3-year National Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
- Experience Option 1: Minimum of 5 years of experience in ICT or Cyber Security, including at least 1 year in a specialist or supervisory role.
- Experience Option 2: Minimum of 6 years of experience in ICT or Cyber Security, including at least 2 years in a specialist or supervisory role.
