About the Regulatory and Financial Risk (RFR) Team

The RFR team is a leading advisor to financial institutions and corporate treasury operations across Africa. We combine business, risk and regulatory expertise with strong financial modelling and programming skills to deliver practical solutions for our clients.

Our services include:

  • Credit: Credit management frameworks, IAS 39/IFRS 9 impairment models, Basel credit models, credit scorecards, behavioural pricing.
  • Capital & Treasury: Risk appetite, balance‑sheet management, stress testing, asset‑liability management, financial risk modelling.
  • Valuations: Derivative valuations, hedge accounting, IFRS 2 share‑option valuations, xVA counter‑party risk.

Qualifications

We welcome Honours or Masters students pursuing a BCom, BSc or BBSc in:

  • Actuarial Science
  • Mathematical Sciences / Statistics
  • Applied/Financial Mathematics
  • Quantitative Risk Management
  • Financial Engineering
  • Applied Statistics
  • Other relevant mathematical or statistical degrees

Consideration will be given to candidates planning to pursue professional qualifications such as FRM, PRM, FIA or FASSA.

Technical Competencies

  • Experience with Python, R, SAS or VBA.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of mathematical or statistical modelling.
