We are looking for a dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team at the Kyalami Medical & Dental Centre.

Position Overview

The main focus of this role is to support dental professionals during general and specialist procedures. You will also help manage patient administration to ensure the clinic runs smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist with all clinical procedures following clinic protocols.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, including sterilization and infection control of instruments and equipment.
  • Prepare the dental room and ensure it is clean and ready for patients.
  • Coordinate laboratory work, including filling out lab slips and managing the collection and return of items.
  • Manage dental supplies and equipment, ensuring items are available and used economically.
  • Ensure all patient documentation is accurate and follows legal and company policies.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality, dignity, and safety at all times.
  • Handle the disposal of medical waste and medicine according to safety regulations.
  • Report any equipment issues to ensure a safe environment for staff and patients.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Active registration with the HPCSA as a Registered Dental Assistant.
  • Completion of a recognized dental assistant training course.
  • Professional knowledge of dental practices, procedures, and terminology.
  • Understanding of infection control and sterilization techniques.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Computer skills).
  • Strong communication skills and a focus on customer service.
  • Experience with GoodX software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of dental treatment codes and the ability to prepare patient quotations.
