Job Opportunity: Dental Clinic Manager

Position Purpose
We are looking for a dedicated Dental Clinic Manager to lead and manage dental services on board the Phelophepa train and through our rural outreach programs. The successful candidate will ensure that high-quality dental care is delivered efficiently and ethically to communities across South Africa.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Management and Supervision
- Oversee the daily operations of the Dental Clinic in a professional and ethical manner.
- Supervise and mentor dental students, providing them with clinical guidance and updated reference materials.
- Manage and support resident staff, including the Resident Dentist, Oral Hygienist, and Infection Control Nurse.
- Perform clinical duties such as surgical extractions, diagnostic procedures, and identifying oral pathologies for referral.
Operations and Partnerships
- Liaise with dental institutions to coordinate student rotations.
- Maintain strong relationships with major sponsors and dental industry partners.
- Manage the school outreach programs in collaboration with the Oral Hygienist.
- Control clinic assets, including the cost-effective ordering of supplies and consumables.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to Infection Control Policies and manage the disposal of medical waste.
- Implement and monitor policies regarding occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens (HIV).
- Update dental clinic protocols and policies regularly to maintain world-class standards.
- Manage and report on any clinical injuries sustained by students or staff.
Administration and Reporting
- Audit patient records and compile daily statistics.
- Submit detailed weekly and fortnightly progress reports to the Senior Project Manager.
- Provide regular analytical feedback to the Transnet Foundation.
Job Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), BChD degree, or an equivalent recognized qualification.
- Registration: Current and valid registration as a Dentist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Dentist, including at least 2 years in a client-facing or service-oriented environment.
