Deputy Chief Financial Officer

Umzimvubu Local Municipality, situated within the Alfred Nzo District in the Eastern Cape, is looking for a dedicated and experienced professional to join our team as a Deputy Chief Financial Officer. This is a full-time position for an individual ready to take on a leadership role in municipal finance.

Role Overview

The Deputy Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for overseeing financial management functions, ensuring compliance with municipal legislation, and supporting the financial health of the municipality.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • A Degree or Advanced National Diploma in Accounting (NQF Level 7).
  • Completion of the Certificate in Municipal Development (CPMD).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Local Government Finance.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience at a Management level within Local Government.
  • A valid Code B Driving License.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of Annual Financial Statement (AFS) preparation and Audit Management.
  • A deep understanding of the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) and other relevant municipal legislation.
  • Current registration with a professional accounting body (must be in good standing).
  • Strong supervisory and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation abilities.
  • Computer literacy (Experience with MUNSOFT and CASEWARE is a distinct advantage).
