Role Overview
We are seeking a professional Deputy Director of Accounts to join our Financial Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing expenditure controls, managing payment processes, and leading a dedicated team of financial staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage expenditure control and ensure accurate capturing of all payments.
- Act as a primary liaison with the Provincial Treasury, Internal Auditors, the Office of the Auditor-General, and other key stakeholders.
- Perform regular reconciliations of payment transactions.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and management to subordinates within the directorate.
Job Requirements
- Education: A National Senior Certificate plus a recognized undergraduate qualification (NQF level 7) in Financial Management or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Financial Management. At least three (3) of those years must be at an Assistant Director or Junior Management level.
- License: A valid driver’s license (except for persons with disabilities).
Required Skills and Competencies
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations, and the legislative framework of the Public Service.
- Systems: Proficiency in BAS, LOGIS, and PERSAL systems, as well as Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
- Leadership: Strong strategic management, people management, and project management skills.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Operations: Ability to handle policy analysis, change management, and organizational planning.
