We provide essential services to commercial and smallholder farmers through research, training, and veterinary care.
Job Purpose
We are seeking a qualified professional to lead our agricultural statistics and economic services. In this role, you will manage the delivery of data-driven insights to support the agricultural and agribusiness sectors in the Western Cape.
Minimum Requirements
- An Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in Economics or Agricultural Economics.
- At least 6 years of relevant experience in the field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a managerial role.
- A valid driver’s license (Code B or higher).

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research into agricultural trends, patterns, and economic statistics.
- Identify and prioritize the data needs of the agricultural and agribusiness industries.
- Oversee the collection, capturing, and management of agricultural data.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive databases for the department.
- Perform spatial referencing of economic data to provide geographic insights.
- Provide a reliable and professional agricultural statistics service to stakeholders.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods in economics.
- Policy Development: Ability to analyze economic data to help shape and conceptualize policy.
- Computer Literacy: Advanced skills in using data software and office tools.
- Leadership: Strong strategic management and leadership abilities.
- Communication: Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
