Job Overview
We are looking for a Deputy Director of Security Services to oversee the physical security and safety of our campuses and regional offices. This role involves managing electronic security systems, coordinating security for high-profile events, and ensuring the department complies with all national security standards.
What We Are Looking For
The successful candidate must have proven experience in the following areas:
- Security Systems: Managing physical security, CCTV, access control, alarms, and electronic systems.
- Contract Management: Overseeing security service providers and guarding contracts.
- Risk & Investigations: Conducting security risk assessments, incident investigations, and technical surveillance counter-measures (TSCM).
- Event Planning: Managing event security in compliance with SASREA and SAPS requirements.
- Policy Development: Creating and implementing security strategies, SOPs, and standards aligned with Minimum Physical Security Standards (MPSS).
- Asset Management: Maintaining registers for security equipment and managing their lifecycles.
Key Responsibilities
Physical Security & Safety Management
- Implement comprehensive security systems to protect staff, assets, and premises.
- Plan the installation and maintenance of CCTV, access control, and radio equipment.
- Oversee fire drills, emergency responses, and incident investigations.
- Ensure all security equipment is properly licensed and registered.
Policy & Standards Compliance
- Conduct threat assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Maintain the departmental security risk register and resolve audit findings from SAPS or the SSA.
- Provide security awareness training and staff inductions.
Event & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate security for ministerial and departmental events.
- Liaise with the SAPS, SSA, DIRCO, and metro police to enhance security across all locations.
- Participate in Security Manager Committees and external authority meetings.
Reporting & Team Leadership
- Compile detailed reports on security activities, incidents, and crime trends.
- Manage the sub-directorate’s financial resources and guarding contracts.
- Supervise staff performance and ensure all personnel meet professional registration requirements (PSIRA).
