Director: Court Administration

The City of Tshwane is a leading Category A urban municipality in South Africa. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Director of Court Administration based in Gauteng.

Role Overview

The Director: Court Administration is responsible for leading the administrative operations of the municipal courts. This role involves strategic leadership, financial management, and ensuring that the judicial and prosecution processes run efficiently and in compliance with all regulations.

Requirements

  • Education: A three- or four-year degree or national diploma in Law, Public Administration, Management, or a related field. A postgraduate degree in Law will be considered an advantage.
  • Experience: At least nine years of working experience within a prosecution environment, including at least four years in a managerial role.
  • Licensing: A valid Code B driving license.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Clearance: Candidates must undergo a criminal record check and provide fingerprints for clearance by the Tshwane Metro Police Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management & Finance: Oversee general management and financial functions for the department.
  • Strategic Leadership: Define short-term and long-term objectives and provide high-level governance for court operations.
  • Administrative Support: Provide professional support to the judiciary and prosecution teams to ensure cases are processed quickly and accurately.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage daily court operations, including data monitoring and evaluation to improve service delivery.
  • Compliance & Risk: Ensure all activities meet legal and regulatory requirements. Manage ethics, risk, and quality assurance within court administration.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Maintain effective relationships with government bodies and other key stakeholders.
  • Reporting: Monitor performance and provide regular reports to ensure continuous improvement of court services.
