The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) was established to drive economic transformation, encourage investment, and boost South Africa’s trade. We are looking for a dedicated professional to lead export promotion strategies for the Africa and Middle East regions.

Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) in Business Management, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience at a middle or senior management level within an Export Promotion environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Management and Policy
Lead the analysis of market intelligence to create export strategies for specific countries and regions. You will ensure these strategies align with South Africa’s trade priorities and monitor their success in increasing national exports.
Market Intelligence and Knowledge Management
Work with research teams to build databases of international importers and exporters. You will identify new export opportunities and maintain high-quality briefing documents and reports for the department.
Innovation in Export Promotion
Develop creative initiatives such as “export bridges” and “export champions.” You will also manage digital information products and modern interface facilities to improve how we deliver services to clients.
Programme and Project Management
Organize and manage trade missions, national pavilions, and business forums for state visits. You will be responsible for recruiting South African companies to participate in these initiatives and promoting South Africa’s brand abroad.
Stakeholder Management
Partner with provincial and local government offices, export councils, and industry associations. You will also coordinate with foreign missions and international agencies to support South African businesses.
Directorate Leadership
Manage the unit’s financial resources and budget. You will also lead the team by overseeing staff development, performance management, and daily operational planning.
