Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A three-year degree or national diploma in Public Administration, Business Administration, Financial Management, or a related field.
- Experience: At least nine years of experience in strategic support (ideally in local government), including at least four years in a managerial position.
- Regulations: Compliance with Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) unit standards is highly preferred.
- Licensing: A valid Code B driver’s license and access to personal transport.
- Skills: Full computer literacy.
- Vetting: Applicants must pass a criminal record check and provide fingerprints to the Tshwane Metro Police Department.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial health and administrative integrity of the department. Primary duties include:
- Team Leadership: Managing staff to ensure high productivity, performance, and a positive working environment.
- Financial Management: Preparing accurate budget estimates for both capital and operating costs, and approving project spending.
- Governance: Identifying gaps in current policies and taking action to improve governance standards.
- Strategic Planning: Setting short-term and long-term objectives and ensuring they align with the City’s operational capacity.
- Administrative Oversight: Managing the reporting process for the City’s strategic plans and ensuring smooth administrative support.
