The Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) is looking for a qualified professional to join our team in Pretoria. This role is responsible for supporting the government’s intergovernmental relations (IGR) and providing essential support to the Cabinet and the Ministry.

Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- An undergraduate degree (NQF level 7) in Political Science, Public Administration, Management, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a senior management role within a Cabinet support or Intergovernmental Relations environment.
- Completion of the Nyukela Senior Management Pre-Entry Programme before appointment.
- A valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel extensively.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Excel, and Outlook).
- Excellent professional writing and communication skills.
Key Competencies
- Leadership: Strong ability in strategic planning, people management, and project oversight.
- Financial Management: Ability to manage budgets and departmental resources effectively.
- Problem Solving: Analytical skills to handle complex administrative challenges.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Intergovernmental Relations Framework Act (IGRFA), public service policies, the Ministerial handbook, and South Africa’s political landscape.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Establishing and managing intergovernmental structures as required by law.
- Developing procedures for Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) forums.
- Providing professional secretariat services for high-level meetings, including the PCC, MINMEC, and Cabinet committees.
- Recording official resolutions and following up to ensure that decisions are implemented.
- Providing direct administrative and cluster support to the Director-General and the Minister.
