Job Opportunity: Director of Legal Advice
The City of Tshwane is looking for a highly skilled professional to fill the role of Director: Legal Advice. As a Category A Grade 6 urban municipality, we are seeking a leader who can provide strategic legal support and ensure our operations remain compliant and protected.
Role Overview
This is a full-time position focused on managing legal services, overseeing municipal governance, and providing expert advice to safeguard the City’s interests. You will lead a team of professionals, manage departmental budgets, and ensure all legal activities align with current legislation.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A three-year tertiary qualification (Degree or National Diploma) in Law or a related field.
- Experience: At least nine years of experience in a strategic legal services environment, preferably within local government.
- Management: At least four years of experience in a managerial position.
- Licensing: A valid Code B driving license and access to your own transport.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in standard computer applications.
- Compliance: Success in the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) unit standards is a significant advantage.
- Vetting: Applicants must undergo a criminal record check, including fingerprinting by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at their own cost.

- Financial Oversight: Prepare and control capital and operating budgets, ensuring all project spending stays within allocation.
