Director: Municipal Public Safety
Overstrand Municipality is a local government body located in the Overberg District of the Western Cape. We serve the coastal communities between Cape Town and Cape Agulhas, including the primary towns of Hermanus, Gansbaai, and Kleinmond. We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced professional to lead our Municipal Public Safety department.

Role Requirements
To qualify for this senior management position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A Post Graduate Degree or an equivalent qualification (NQF Level 8) with a minimum of 120 credits in a relevant field.
- Experience: At least 7 years of experience in middle and senior management, with a minimum of 2 years specifically at the senior management level.
- Legal Knowledge: A deep understanding of municipal legislation, statutory requirements, and local government operations.
- Compliance: Must meet the minimum competency requirements for Senior Managers as set out in Government Notice R493 (June 2007) and the standards defined in the Regulations on Appointment and Conditions of Employment of Senior Managers (Government Gazette 37245).
Key Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of institutional governance, performance management, and policy implementation.
- Clear insight into the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and its role in service delivery.
- Exceptional strategic planning, leadership, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills. Ability to speak at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape is required.
- A proven track record of innovation and staff motivation.
