Job Purpose
The primary goal of this position is to ensure that goods are delivered to customers accurately, safely, and on time. You will be responsible for maintaining the delivery vehicle, managing stock documentation, and providing exceptional customer service to promote the company’s reputation.
Key Responsibilities
Driving and Logistics:
- Provide professional and friendly customer service at all times.
- Complete daily trip sheets, including mileage and departure/arrival times.
- Conduct daily pre-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
- Report any vehicle defects or maintenance needs to your supervisor immediately.
- Plan the most efficient routes to ensure timely deliveries.
- Verify all outgoing stock and ensure correct documentation is in place before loading.
- Maintain accurate transfer logbooks and ensure they are signed upon delivery.
- Ensure all stock is handled with care and delivered in excellent condition.
- Assist with regular stock counts and other work-related tasks as needed.
Crane Operation:
- Operate the crane safely to lift, move, and position heavy loads.
- Perform daily safety checks and minor maintenance on crane equipment.
- Ensure safe loading and unloading of materials.
- Strictly follow all safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
Requirements
- Education: Matric or equivalent (Candidates without Matric will be considered if they have a valid license and at least 3 years of driving experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience.
- Licensing: Valid Code 14 Driver’s Licence and a valid PDP (Public Driving Permit).
- Certification: Crane Operation certification and proven experience operating a crane.
- Skills: Strong communication and reading skills, excellent time management, and the ability to handle pressure.
- Technical Knowledge: Ability to understand vehicle loading and route planning.
