About the Position
The Northern Cape Department of Health is looking for a reliable and professional Driver to join our team. This role is essential for supporting our healthcare operations by ensuring the safe transport of people, documents, and equipment across the province.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Grade 10, ABET Level 4, or an equivalent qualification.
- License: A valid Code B or C1 driver’s license with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Experience: Between 7 to 12 months of relevant driving experience.
- Skills: A strong commitment to safety, reliability, and basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
As a departmental driver, your daily duties will include:
- Transport: Safely transporting employees and patients to their required destinations.
- Deliveries: Collecting and delivering official documents, mail, and office equipment between various hospital departments and external locations.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Performing daily inspections (pre-trip and post-trip) to ensure the vehicle is in excellent condition and reporting any defects immediately.
- Routine Care: Carrying out basic maintenance on assigned vehicles to ensure they remain roadworthy.
- Record Keeping: Accurately completing logbooks and all required records for vehicle usage and goods handled.
