Job Vacancy: Electrician (12-Month Contract)
Siyancuma Municipality is looking for a qualified and experienced Electrician to join our team in the Northern Cape. This is a 12-month contract position aimed at ensuring the reliability and safety of our municipal electrical infrastructure.

Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- A valid Matric certificate and a recognized Trade Certificate.
- High Voltage Authorization (ORHVS Level 1-12).
- Training in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) and Protection Schemes.
- Experience in High Tension (HT) terminations and cable jointing (XLPE & PILC).
- 3 to 5 years of post-apprenticeship experience.
- Strong knowledge of electrical policies, fault-finding, and problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and supervisory skills with high attention to detail.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Construction and Installation
- Organize and lead the installation of medium and low voltage electrical networks.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and work orders.
- Install pre-paid meters in municipal and private buildings.
- Conduct COC (Certificate of Compliance) inspections and install new connections.
- Ensure all installations meet safety standards and quality guidelines.
2. Maintenance and Repairs
- Carry out planned and predictive maintenance on electrical systems to prevent power failures.
- Repair electrical equipment in all municipal buildings.
- Conduct inspections on structures, lines, and transformers.
- Perform fault-finding tests on pump stations and cables to restore services quickly.
- Safely isolate and replace defective components in live and dead environments.
3. Supervision and Team Control
- Supervise staff performance, productivity, and discipline.
- Conduct staff appraisals and identify training needs to bridge skill gaps.
- Keep the team informed about new legislation, policies, and safety procedures.
- Manage workplace conflict and ensure a productive work environment.
4. Administration and Communication
- Complete daily log sheets, time sheets, and progress reports.
- Maintain vehicle checklists and equipment registers.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding resource needs and job progress.
- Coordinate with the stores department to manage materials for job cards.
