About the Role
The Public Investment Corporation (PIC) is a leading investment manager in Africa with over a century of experience in managing public sector funds. We are looking for a dedicated ESG Analyst to support the implementation of our Responsible Investment Strategy.
In this role, you will ensure that Environmental, Social, Governance, and Transformation (ESGT) principles are integrated into our investment decision-making process. You will play a key part in research, engagement, and compliance within our approved governance framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze listed companies, State-Owned Entities (SOEs), and external asset managers regarding their ESGT performance and risks.
- Conduct proxy voting analysis and engage directly with companies on ESG issues.
- Develop and support tools to better integrate ESGT data into the investment process.
- Contribute to thought leadership and research regarding sustainability and ESG trends.
- Perform ESGT due diligence on transactions, including pre- and post-investment monitoring.
- Compile quarterly performance reports for clients and fund managers.
- Monitor industry regulations, trends, and best practices to ensure the PIC remains a leader in responsible investment.
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve overall ESGT performance.
Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Economics, Social/Developmental Studies, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in an ESG-specific role.
- Strong research skills with the ability to analyze and interpret complex data.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- A deep understanding of ESGT legislation, reporting frameworks, and diversity/inclusion issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Postgraduate degree.
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Institute of Directors South Africa (IoDSA) membership.
- Knowledge of investment policy and active ownership.

- The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- A proactive “self-starter” attitude with the ability to take initiative.
- Strong presentation and report-writing abilities.
