Position Purpose
In this role, you will develop and lead a comprehensive Legal, Compliance, and Regulatory strategy. You will ensure the company remains sustainable and follows all legal requirements while providing strategic leadership to support Transnet’s business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Departmental Leadership: Manage the Legal and Compliance department, taking accountability for legal services, litigation, and governance matters.
- Strategy Development: Analyze and interpret group strategies to create legal roadmaps. This includes staying updated on new laws, industry trends, and international regulations.
- Compliance Management: Implement policies and internal controls to manage risk. Ensure all actions are completed on time and align with company standards.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and external legal advisors.
- Company Representation: Represent the organization in legal matters, court appearances, and professional forums to protect the company’s interests.
- Human Resources: Lead and develop the legal team. This includes setting performance targets, creating development plans, and managing staff growth.
Requirements
- Education: LLB degree is required. A Master’s degree or relevant post-graduate qualification is an advantage.
- Professional Status: Must be an Admitted Attorney or Advocate.
- Experience: At least 10 years of experience at a management level, with 7 of those years in senior management.
