Role Purpose

The Financial Accountant is responsible for ensuring financial compliance and accurate reporting for Transnet Pipelines (TPL). This role involves managing statutory reporting according to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), overseeing treasury activities for foreign transactions, and maintaining a complete and accurate trial balance. You will also manage tax legislation compliance and coordinate audit activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and manage monthly, half-year, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and the Companies Act.
  • Treasury & Cash Flow: Execute foreign exchange transactions, manage banking relationships, and forecast working capital to ensure financial stability.
  • Budgeting & Planning: Calculate depreciation, borrowing costs, and tax projections for the 5-year and 10-year corporate plans.
  • Internal Controls: Develop and implement effective internal controls within the financial department.
  • Audit Management: Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure all year-end deadlines are met.
  • Taxation: Oversee compliance with all tax laws, including VAT, PAYE, and Income Tax.
  • Operational Accounting: Manage petty cash, ensure accurate invoicing of revenue, and oversee operating expenditures and payroll provisions.

Requirements

  • Qualification: Chartered Accountant – CA (SA).
  • Experience: 5 to 8 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting.
  • Leadership: 2 to 3 years of experience in a middle management role.
  • License: A valid Code 08 driver’s license.
  • Travel: Ability to travel as required.
  • Integrity: A high level of honesty and trust is required for handling company finances.
