About the Position

The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) is responsible for protecting and conserving South Africa’s natural resources. We are seeking a dedicated Forester to support our mission of environmental management in the Western Cape. This role involves ensuring the sustainable management of forest resources in accordance with national legislation.

Requirements

  • Education: A National Diploma (NQF6) in Forestry or a related field recognized by SAQA.
  • Experience: At least one year of professional experience in forestry or a relevant environmental field.
  • Legal Knowledge: Familiarity with the National Forestry Act, National Veld Fire Forestry Act, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Environmental Awareness: Understanding of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) and other policies that impact the forestry sector.
  • Licensing: A valid driver’s license is required, along with a willingness to travel.
