The primary role of the Forklift Driver is to operate and maintain a forklift safely and efficiently. You will also be responsible for providing excellent customer service, merchandising stock, and maintaining a clean and safe store environment.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) or at least one year of related work experience.
- A valid forklift license.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English and the local language.
- Strong basic calculation skills.
- Physical fitness to operate heavy machinery.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Greet customers and help them find the products they need.
- Provide accurate product advice and assist with queries or complaints.
- Ensure customer purchases are loaded quickly and carefully into their vehicles.
- Promote additional services like delivery, glass cutting, and credit programs.
Merchandising and Housekeeping
- Organize and stock shelves according to the store layout and planograms.
- Ensure all items have the correct price labels.
- Keep aisles clear of obstacles to ensure customer safety.
- Maintain cleanliness in the store, including common areas like canteens and restrooms.
Safety and Loss Prevention
- Complete daily forklift inspections and report any mechanical faults immediately.
- Wear required safety gear, including helmets and kidney belts, at all times.
- Follow all safety rules: do not overload the forklift or use it to lift people.
- Monitor the store for suspicious activity and report concerns to management.
- Verify proof of purchase before loading any items for customers.
