Frontshop Assistant – Marine Walk

Dis-Chem Pharmacies, South Africa’s leading pharmaceutical retailer, is looking for a dedicated Frontshop Assistant to join our team at the Marine Walk branch in KwaZulu-Natal. We are looking for an individual who will uphold our high merchandising standards and provide exceptional service to our customers.

Role Overview

As a Frontshop Assistant, you will ensure our shelves are well-stocked and neatly presented while assisting customers at the point of sale. You will play a vital role in the daily operations of the store, from managing stock to processing payments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Merchandising: Keep shelves fully stocked, neatly arranged, and ensure all products are within their “sell-by” dates.
  • Customer Service: Provide friendly and professional assistance to all customers, answering queries and resolving stock issues promptly.
  • Point of Sale: Accurately process payments (cash, card, and vouchers) and handle loyalty card transactions.
  • Stock Control: Assist with receiving and unpacking stock, verifying deliveries, and participating in regular stocktakes.
  • Pricing & Displays: Ensure all products have correct labels and pricing, and report any discrepancies to management.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized storeroom and shop floor in accordance with company standards.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate.
  • Up to 6 months of retail experience.
  • South African citizenship.
  • Clear criminal and credit record.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transport.

Advantageous Qualifications:

  • 1 year of retail experience.
  • Certification in Retail Business Management.
  • Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with SAP.

Essential Skills

  • Strong understanding of retail operations and administration.
  • Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Excellent verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently and follow company procedures.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills.

Work Conditions

  • Must be able to work retail hours (including weekends and public holidays).
  • Physical ability to assist with loading and off-loading stock.
