Job Opportunity: Functional Head: Policy Monitoring
The City of Tshwane is a major metropolitan municipality serving the greater Pretoria area. We are looking for a qualified and experienced professional to fill the role of Functional Head: Policy Monitoring. This is a full-time position based in Gauteng, within our Human Resources department.
What You Will Do
As the Functional Head, you will lead the monitoring and evaluation of organizational policies to ensure they align with national laws and the City’s strategic goals. Your key responsibilities include:
- Policy Management: Assist in developing, reviewing, and implementing systems to track how policies are working across the organization.
- Strategic Advice: Provide expert guidance on policy trends, emerging issues, and the practical implications of new regulations.
- Compliance and Auditing: Monitor adherence to internal procedures and by-laws. Coordinate internal audits and report findings to senior management.
- Leadership: Manage personnel within your department and promote a culture of accountability and evidence-based decision-making.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal departments and external partners. Represent the City of Tshwane in intergovernmental forums.
- Improvement: Identify gaps in current policies and recommend corrective measures or amendments where necessary.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A three-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma or Degree) in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: At least six years of professional experience in policy development and monitoring. Previous experience in a supervisory or management role is a strong advantage.
- License: A valid Code B driving license.
- Skills: Full computer literacy and strong communication skills.
- Clearance: You must undergo a criminal record check, including fingerprinting by the Tshwane Metro Police Department.
