Gaming Operation Learnership (Cashier)

Location: KwaZulu-Natal (Sun Sibaya)
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Qualification: National Certificate in Gaming Operations (NQF Level 4)

About the Programme

Sun International is committed to supporting skills development in South Africa. We are offering a 12-month learnership programme at Sun Sibaya designed to help unemployed individuals gain essential experience in the gaming industry. Upon successful completion, learners will receive an NQF Level 4 qualification, significantly improving their chances of finding permanent employment.

Please note that this role requires working in both smoking and non-smoking environments and is subject to KZN Gaming Board licensing.

Key Responsibilities

As a learner cashier, you will be involved in the daily operations of the gaming floor. Your duties will include:

• Preparing and checking your work area and equipment to ensure they are ready for service.
• Maintaining the cleanliness of your assigned station.
• Providing a warm and professional welcome to all guests, ensuring high levels of customer service.
• Assisting with slot machine counts on designated days.
• Accurately capturing data into the system.
• Reporting any suspicious transactions to management.
• Organizing and filing necessary documentation.

Requirements

To be considered for this learnership, you must meet the following criteria:

• A valid Matric certificate (or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification).
• A valid South African ID.
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
• The ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• A self-motivated and professional attitude.
• Physical fitness, with the ability to stand for long periods and handle tools or machinery related to the job.
• The ability to meet the requirements for a provincial gaming license.

Skills and Competencies

• Basic knowledge of gaming components.
• Emotional resilience and the ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent listening and problem-solving skills.
