Role Description
The General Assistant is responsible for ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining high merchandising standards, and keeping the store clean and safe. This role involves physical work, including stocking shelves and organizing bulk areas.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Help customers find the right products for their needs.
- Answer customer questions and resolve complaints professionally.
Merchandising and Housekeeping
- Pack stock safely and neatly according to the store layout.
- Ensure all items have the correct price labels displayed.
- Keep aisles clear of obstacles to ensure a safe shopping environment.
- Clean designated areas, including staff facilities, as required.
Safety and Stock Management
- Follow health and safety (OHSA) rules, including using safety gear.
- Report any damaged stock or safety risks to the Store Manager.
- Help prevent stock loss by staying alert and reporting discrepancies.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) OR Grade 10 with at least one year of related work experience.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English and the local language of the area.
- Must have a valid South African ID or work permit.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
