About the Office

The Limpopo Office of the Premier provides strategic leadership and management to ensure service excellence across the province. We oversee the administration of provincial and national legislation to support the development of our region.

Job Purpose

We are seeking a qualified GISc Professional to provide technical support and lead geographic information projects. This role involves managing spatial data to help departments and municipalities make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide GIS support to provincial departments, municipalities, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and coordinate GIS projects within the province.
  • Design, develop, and maintain the Provincial Geo-database and website.
  • Perform professional mapping services.

Requirements

  • Education: A National Senior Certificate plus an undergraduate degree (NQF level 7) in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geomatics, Geo-Informatics, Geography, or a related field.
  • Professional Registration: Must be registered with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) or PLATO as a GISc Professional.
  • Experience:
    • Grade A: 0 to 2 years of experience after professional registration.
    • Grade B: 14 years of experience after professional registration.
    • Grade C: 26 years of experience after professional registration.
  • License: A valid driver’s license (except for applicants with disabilities).

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Technical Skills: Data capturing, data management, policy analysis, and advanced computer literacy.
  • Management Skills: Strategic planning, project management, and time management.
  • Personal Attributes: Strong analytical skills, effective communication, leadership, and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of GIS applications and the legislative framework governing the Public Service.
