The Western Cape Department of the Premier leads the strategic direction of the Western Cape Government. Our mission is to ensure that the province provides high-quality, people-centered services. We work to empower departments and leadership to deliver effective governance across the region.
We are currently looking for motivated graduates for our 2026/2027 Internship Programme. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical work experience and build a foundation for your professional career.
Minimum Requirements
To be eligible for this internship, you must meet the following criteria:
- You are a South African citizen and currently reside in the Western Cape.
- You are between the ages of 20 and 35.
- You have completed one of the following qualifications:
- Higher National Certificate (NQF 5)
- Diploma (NQF 6)
- Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7)
- Postgraduate Qualification / Master’s Degree (NQF 8 or higher)
Preferred Candidates
While all eligible graduates are encouraged to apply, preference may be given to applicants who face financial constraints and lack a professional network or support system to help them with career choices.
What to Expect
Successful candidates will receive hands-on, on-the-job training. Interns will be placed in various provincial departments based on their field of study. Participating departments include:
- Agriculture
- Police Oversight and Community Safety
- Cultural Affairs and Sport
- Department of the Premier
- Economic Development and Tourism
- Environmental Affairs & Development Planning
- Infrastructure
- Local Government
- Mobility
- Provincial Treasury
- Social Development
