Western Cape Department of the Premier

The Western Cape Department of the Premier leads the strategic direction of the Western Cape Government. Our mission is to ensure that the province provides high-quality, people-centered services. We work to empower departments and leadership to deliver effective governance across the region.

We are currently looking for motivated graduates for our 2026/2027 Internship Programme. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical work experience and build a foundation for your professional career.

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for this internship, you must meet the following criteria:

• You are a South African citizen and currently reside in the Western Cape.
• You are between the ages of 20 and 35.
• You have completed one of the following qualifications:
  • Higher National Certificate (NQF 5)
  • Diploma (NQF 6)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7)
  • Postgraduate Qualification / Master’s Degree (NQF 8 or higher)

Preferred Candidates

While all eligible graduates are encouraged to apply, preference may be given to applicants who face financial constraints and lack a professional network or support system to help them with career choices.

What to Expect

Successful candidates will receive hands-on, on-the-job training. Interns will be placed in various provincial departments based on their field of study. Participating departments include:

• Environmental Affairs & Development Planning
• Infrastructure

• Social Development
