About the Internship
The City of Johannesburg invites students from the Johannesburg community to apply for a student internship in the Group Legal & Contracts Department. This internship is designed to give you hands‑on experience in legal support and litigation management, and is open to students who have never participated in an internship programme before (unless it was unrelated to their course of study).
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and filing legal documents.
- Write reports and conduct legal research.
- Support the Litigation Management Unit by coordinating documents and liaising with legal practitioners.
- Attend meetings such as BSCs and BECs and take minutes.
- Provide general office support and manage telephone enquiries.

Minimum Requirements
- Matric/Grade 12 Certificate
- National Diploma in Law, Legal Assistance, Paralegal or related field (NQF Level 6)
- No prior experience required
- Only City of Johannesburg residents will be considered
Remuneration
Completed qualification (minimum 360 credits): R10,109.86 per month (basic salary, no benefits)
Enrolled as a 2nd‑year student: R3,500.00 per month (basic salary, no benefits)
