Internship: Governance and Audit

The Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) is offering an internship opportunity within our Governance and Audit unit. This program is designed to provide graduates with practical experience and develop the critical skills needed to support South Africa’s construction sector.

Role Description

As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience by performing entry-level tasks and supporting the daily operations of the department. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Handling administrative tasks and managing unit correspondence.
  • Maintaining organized records and filing systems.
  • Assisting with the coordination of unit budgets.
  • Gathering information and preparing documents for audits.
  • Collecting data for monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Preparing meeting agendas and taking accurate minutes.
  • Creating presentations for quarterly reviews.
  • Participating in departmental rotations to learn different aspects of the business.

What You Will Learn

During this internship, you will develop a professional understanding of:

  • The CETA mandate and the broader SETA landscape.
  • Theoretical and practical applications within governance and audit.
  • Key regulatory frameworks, including the Skills Development Act, PFMA, Tax laws, and BBBEE policies.

Requirements

To be considered for this internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen under the age of 35.
  • Hold a valid South African Identity Document.
  • Have a relevant post-matric qualification from a recognized higher learning institution.
  • Must have never participated in a previous SETA-sponsored internship.
  • Must have no previous formal employment experience.

Accepted Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with a BA, BCom, or National Diploma in the following fields:

  • Auditing
  • Accounting
  • Public Administration or an equivalent field
