Role Purpose

The IT Scrum Master will enable development teams to use the Scrum framework effectively. The primary goal is to foster an environment of continuous improvement, ensuring the team delivers high-quality software and products efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meeting Facilitation: Organize and lead all Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and release planning.
  • Progress Tracking: Monitor and communicate the team’s velocity and progress toward sprint and release goals.
  • Obstacle Removal: Identify and eliminate roadblocks that hinder the team’s progress and protect them from outside distractions.
  • Team Empowerment: Help the team become self-organized and maintain accountability for their work.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Keep stakeholders informed about product issues and progress while assisting the Product Owner with backlog maintenance and prioritization.
  • Standardization: Help develop and maintain team standards, tools, and best practices for agile delivery.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Studies, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least five years of professional experience, with a minimum of three years working directly within product delivery or software development teams.
  • Certifications: Relevant Scrum Master and Agile certifications are required. Project Management (such as Prince 2) or Agile Foundation certifications are highly preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: A strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Experience within the financial services sector is considered a significant advantage.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Deep knowledge of Scrum and Agile frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership and facilitation skills, focusing on a “servant-leader” approach.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • High attention to detail and a goal-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency with modern Agile management tools.
