About the Role
The City of Tshwane is looking for a professional Legal Administrative Officer to support our legal department. This role involves managing legal disputes, assisting with contract administration, and providing general legal support to ensure the municipality operates effectively within the law.
Minimum Requirements
We are looking for candidates who meet the criteria for either the T11 or T12 grade level:
- For T11 Grade: You must have a Grade 12 certificate (Matric) and be currently studying toward a relevant legal or administrative qualification.
- For T12 Grade: You must have a three-year degree or national diploma in Law or a related field.
- Experience: At least 2 to 3 years of working experience in administrative, constitutional, local government, or civil procedure law.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Background Check: Candidates must undergo a criminal record check, including fingerprinting by the Tshwane Metro Police Department.
Key Responsibilities
As a Legal Administrative Officer, your daily tasks will include:
- Helping manage legal disputes filed against the City and coordinating with stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Drafting, reviewing, and checking contracts and legal documents.
- Conducting legal research and reviewing supporting documentation.
- Attending meetings with various stakeholders.
- Updating and maintaining the contract database and legal registers.
- Monitoring compliance with legislative requirements.
- Providing general administrative support to the legal section.
- Compiling and updating monthly reports and spreadsheets.
