Legal Compliance Assistant – Anti Money Laundering

A full-service law firm that provides expert legal advice to international businesses and individuals is looking for a dedicated Compliance Assistant. In this role, you will provide essential support for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) processes and help the Risk and Compliance Manager manage daily operations.

We are seeking a detail-oriented professional who is passionate about regulatory compliance. While prior legal experience is not required, you should have:

• A relevant tertiary qualification.
• A genuine interest in AML processes and legal risk management.
• Strong IT skills and the ability to handle data with high accuracy.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
• The ability to work independently while being a helpful team member.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will handle a variety of compliance and administrative tasks, including:

• Due Diligence: Reviewing client identification and performing background checks according to the firm’s AML framework.
• Record Keeping: Ensuring all compliance records are complete, accurate, and meet regulatory standards.
• Financial Verification: Documenting Source of Funds (SOF) and Source of Wealth (SOW), and escalating any risks to management.
• Monitoring: Assisting with periodic risk assessments and ongoing AML monitoring activities.
• Regulatory Support: Maintaining compliance registers and ensuring the firm follows SRA and ICO obligations.
• Training & Onboarding: Coordinating compliance training for staff and helping new employees complete their mandatory AML checks.
• Administration: Providing daily administrative support to the Risk and Compliance Manager to ensure smooth operations.
