About the Organization
The Road Accident Fund (RAF) is a state insurer that provides insurance cover to all drivers in South Africa. This cover applies to liability or damage caused by traffic collisions, specifically focusing on personal injury. Please note that property damage, such as damage to vehicles or buildings, is excluded from this cover.
Role Overview
We are looking for two (2) professional Legal Secretaries to join our High Court team in Johannesburg. This is a full-time position. The successful candidates will provide essential administrative and secretarial support to the legal department, ensuring that all court processes and office operations run smoothly.
Key Performance Areas
Legal Secretarial Support
- Prepare court statements, forms, and legal documents for Attorneys.
- Transcribe audio files and written notes into clear, professional documents.
- Organize, index, and update legal pleadings and discovery binders.
- Assist with legal research and maintain communication with vendors, experts, and opposing counsel.
Office and Diary Management
- Manage team diaries and schedule appointments with internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate meetings, take minutes, and track the progress of outstanding matters.
- Handle telephonic queries and provide general administrative support.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all office and legal matters.
- Ensure the department is well-supplied with stationery and necessary resources.
Document Control and Administration
- Maintain an efficient and up-to-date filing system.
- Collect and distribute court rolls to the relevant state attorneys.
- Acknowledge receipt of documents, allocate file numbers, and record data accurately into the computer system.
- Maintain records of high-value foreign national cases for reporting and reinsurance purposes.
- Ensure all activities follow RAF policies and professional internal standards.
Requirements
- Qualification: A National Diploma in Business Administration, Law, or a related qualification.
- Experience: At least 2 years of relevant experience in a business or law administration environment.
