About the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA)
The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) is responsible for planning, designing, maintaining, and managing the roads and stormwater infrastructure for the City of Johannesburg. We are looking for two dedicated Logistics/Fleet Officers to join our team and help ensure our vehicle fleet operates efficiently.
Role Overview
As an LTO, you will be responsible for the daily management of vehicles at your assigned depot. This includes coordinating maintenance, monitoring driver behavior, and ensuring all fleet assets are accounted for and in good working condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Vehicle Allocation: Receive new vehicles from service providers and assign them to drivers. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date record of all vehicles and drivers at the depot.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Schedule vehicles for routine servicing or mechanical repairs. Ensure drivers collect vehicles promptly once work is finished and perform regular checks on vehicle tyres.
- Performance Monitoring: Use the VDO tracking system to monitor driver behavior, including speeding, harsh braking, and clutch control.
- Inspections & Compliance: Conduct weekly vehicle inspections. Record defects and ensure repair claims are lodged within 48 hours of an incident.
- Operational Oversight: Monitor the turnaround time for workshop repairs and track vehicle use outside of normal working hours or outside the JRA’s jurisdiction.
- Reporting: Provide trip reports for management to assist with monitoring and disciplinary processes.
Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or a National Certificate.
- Qualification: A Higher Certificate in Fleet Management (NQF Level 5) or an equivalent qualification.
- License: A valid Code 10 driver’s license or higher.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in fleet management and at least 1 year of driving experience.
