Purpose of the Job

The primary role of the Maintenance Artisan Auto Electrician is to safely perform preventive maintenance and repairs on Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM) according to established work instructions.

Key Responsibilities

Safety and Quality

• Identify and manage workplace risks.
• Follow all legislated safety, health, and environmental standards.
• Perform equipment isolation and lockout procedures using the correct documentation.

Work Execution

• Complete tasks as outlined in work orders and detailed task lists.
• Maintain accurate records by capturing maintenance history and completing notifications.
• Perform detailed fault-finding on electrical systems, electronic systems, PLCs, and engine management systems (under 100V).
• Provide regular feedback to the Maintenance Supervisor regarding task requirements or equipment shortages.
• Assist with secondary tasks such as tyre changes when necessary.

Breakdown and Intervention

• Respond to unplanned breakdowns quickly and safely.
• Collect and record data during stoppages to help determine the root cause of failures.
• Suggest improvements for handling future breakdowns.

Parts Management (Rotables)

• Manage the exchange of damaged parts and ensure correct items are drawn from stock.
• Complete all necessary paperwork and “Damage” tags for returned items.
• Physically transport parts to the designated storage areas.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Grade 12 or N2 qualification.
• Certification: Section 26 Trade Certificate (Auto Electrician).
• Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar environment.
• Health: Must be declared medically fit as per organizational standards.
